International Arbitration Certification – Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

For the first time in Afghanistan by Afghanistan Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution (“ACDR”)

ACDR is working closely with US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (“CLDP”) on development of arbitration in Afghanistan. One of the main and mutual goals of both ACDR and CLDP is to certify ACDR arbitrators and work for their capacity building.

CLDP sponsored a group of ACDR arbitrators for the membership certification of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“CIArb”). As of May 2020, four arbitrators of ACDR, namely Dr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, Mr. Saeeq Shajjan, Mr. Ismail Shahid and Mr. Abdul Jamil Qaderi, are certified by CIArb and are members of CIArb/MCIArb. For the first time in Afghanistan the CIArb certification opportunity was made possible by the support CLDP for ACDR arbitrators.

CIArb is an international leading and professional membership organization in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”). As per the data collected from CIArb website, its growing membership of 16,000 is based across 149 countries and supported by an international network of 41 branches.

ACDR highly appreciates CLDP’s support and has planned to provide CIArb certification opportunity for its other arbitrators as well.
